About the 175th AnniversaryThe University of Richmond was founded in 1830 and we will be celebrating our 175th anniversary during the 2004-2005 academic year. Planning is underway for a variety of events and we hope you will return to this website often to find out about these plans and make your own plans to celebrate with us on campus. We are also chronicling parts of the University's history and story through this website, with new areas and features being added regularly. While we know the official stories of the University, your personal story is very much a part of our collective history and we hope you will share it through the Alumni Scrapbook feature of this website. To show our pride and celebrate being a part of the University of Richmond family we are asking all alumni and friends to fly a flag with the University crest during the anniversary year. Flags are available for sale at the University bookstore on the second floor of Tyler Haynes Commons. They will also be available at the Spidershop during home football and basketball games. Other 175th anniversary merchandise will be available early in the fall semester.
